We have been asked by Andy to research flash or Speedlight triggers. There are two types, infra red (ir) and wirless.
Q. What are speedlite triggers?
A. They are the devices that allow the photographer to take more control of images requiring off camera flash. They enable the flash to operate remotely from the camera without wires. There is a trigger that sits on the flash shoe of the camera and a receiver that fits beneath the flash unit.
Research suggests that whether a photographer uses IR or wirless is dependent on what he is trying to photograph. Infra red rely on line of sight from the camera to the flash and wont work around corners or where there is something else interfering with its line of sight. Also it will only work over short distances of a few feet whereas wireless will work over longer distances and doesn’t require line of sight. Another problem with IR appears to be that the signal can be interrupted by strong sun light.
