Nathan

Hi Nathan, here’s is the work I have been putting together in the last few days. Please contact me if you have any concerns whatsoever.

This work is incomplete because originally I wasn’t aware of what I was expected to put on the blog. This was also compounded with the fact that for most of this year I had been struggling with the constant changes that seemed to be occurring with the way WordPress managed the site. It appeared that every time I tried to create a new page or blog the method of doing so changed. I had reported this a few times to Mark so he is aware of the difficulties I was experiencing. Recently the blog has been manageable so what follows on this page is what I have been able to achieve but not absolutely everything.

Response to Irene Kung

In Andy’s brief we had been looking at the work of Irene Kung and asked to do a response. This one is my interpretation of her work. I took the initial photo in Paragon station and then put emphasis on the locomotive and faded out the background. The background colour was sampled from one of the blues in the loco. Also I noted the loco had at some time had a repair to its bodywork and so I made an attempt to brush this out and clean up the paintwork at the same time.

John Blakemore

We did some work with Andy on John Blakemore and were asked to do an interpretation of his layered images. Below is my work. This was my second shoot because on the first my group used some bank notes in the images but Photoshop would not allow the processing of these. This second shoot was my own work and in the first instance I produces about twenty five layers which seemed to make my pc struggle a little. I reduced the number of individual layers and came up with the images below.

Shirley Goodsell

Following an exhibition of Shirley’s paintings at ASAD our year were challenged to find some of her locations and photograph them as they are in reality today. I chose to photograph several of her locations and merge them in to one to give a real atmosphere of Hulls historical culture:

The finished work comprised of my picture with smaller placements at the side of it showing Shirley’s painting which inspired my picture:

4th screen grab

This 4th screen grab shows my photo of queens dock as it is today near Monument Bridge and also my second  image of Wilberforce’s statue merges with the first to show its original location. This merge was needed to show where the statue was at the point in time when Shirley captured it.

This second set of images show how my original location photos were merged to complete my interpretation inspired by Shirley Goodsell:
